IMD
The urban planning incorporation, of the IMD [intermunicipal environmental service] building, the way in which this building should be situated in its diffuse surroundings, has been of very great importance. The building is therefore oriented urbanistically on the axis of Sanderboutlaan, a traditionally present connecting road between the various municipalities. Coming along this road, either from Stein or from the A2 / A76, towards the site, the building is visible from afar, thus anchoring it urbanistically. The building is also visible from the other roads leading to the roundabout near the site. The building is not oriented frontally on the roundabout, but rotated, so that the building can always be seen at an angle and therefore does not have a front and rear façade, but equivalent façades. In addition, the volumes were studied, in which the proportions of mass and openings in this mass should be of a correct order.
